Spiritual Kids

Jesus Embraced Parenting

Sometimes we forget that our kids have their own relationship with the Lord. The Holy Spirit is working in the lives every day, whether we realize it or not.

In everyone’s life there comes a time for a decision, a moment when we either choose to accept Jesus’ offer of salvation or refuse it. We can either embrace him or reject him. The same is true for our kids. As parents we ought to encourage them to seek Jesus and we should share with them our own spiritual journey.

Entering into salvation changes us, and the Holy Spirit continues that changing from that day forward. We become a spiritually alive person, a new creation in Christ. The same is true for our kids, so we also need to remember to encourage them to continue growing in their own relationship with our Lord.

We invite others to join us in discovering what it’s like to be a Christian parent who teaches and models God’s truth to their kids. Jesus Embraced Parenting asks tough questions at times, but it is so worth learning how to help our children grow spiritually.

God bless,

Loving Others

Jesus Embraced Parenting

One of the hardest things to teach our kids about love is the idea of loving our enemies, because it’s so hard for us to do it ourselves.

We wrote Jesus Embraced Parenting because we realized that being a parent is so much more than just providing our kids with easy answers. As Christians, we have to be willing to do the hard stuff and then teach them about it too.

One of the fruits of the spirit is love but the idea of loving those who we don’t like is especially tough because we can get confused about what that means. In Luke 6:27-36, Jesus is asking us to do practical acts of love: do good, pray, offer a second chance, give, lend, forgive. He isn’t asking us to join them in their sins. He isn’t asking us to let them keep abusing us. But he is telling us to show love to everyone, whether we think they deserve love or not. That is a tough standard to model to our kids, but it’s a healthy one.

We invite others to join us in discovering what it’s like to be a Christian parent who teaches and models God’s truth to their kids. This study asks tough questions at times, but it is so worth learning how to help our children grow spiritually.

Parental Love

If only our kids were exact copies of us, then we could easily figure out how to show them love- just do whatever fills our own heart. But each kid is different, so we need to show them love in a way that they can understand. We need to show them love in whatever way makes their heart sing for joy.

We wrote Jesus Embraced Parenting because we realize that being a parent is a challenge at times (but it is so worth it), and we think that God offers us great advice on how to be the best parents possible.

One of the fruits of the spirit is love., so we want our kids to know that we love them, that God loves them, and that it is important for them to love others too.

We invite others to join us in discovering what it’s like to be a Christian parent who teaches and models God’s truth to their kids. This study asks tough questions at times, but it is so worth learning how to help our children grow spiritually.

Hug Jesus

Jesus Embraced Parenting

Sometimes life doesn’t always make sense. There are times when it gets hard, it hurts, and it’s confusing. As parents that can be tough to deal with in our own lives, but it’s even harder when the difficulty has to do with our child. We don’t always have an answer for the problems, but we do have the comfort of a hug, We love them through the pain and difficulties because that’s what parents do.

Even more important than being there for our kids, is helping them to understand that Jesus is there with them too. We won’t always be there over the years ahead but their Lord will be, so it’s important for us as parents to show them that Jesus is real, wants to hear from them, and is ready to offer comfort and guidance.

One of the fruits of the spirit is love., so we want to nurture that in our kids. We want them to learn how to love God, starting with accepting him as their Lord and savior. We want our kids to realize how much God cares about them and how much he has done for them:

This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

1 John 4:9-10 NIV

Loving Our Kids

Jesus Embraced Parenting

Being a parent is so worth it. Amy and I embrace the responsibility because we so appreciate our kids. Our two guys are fun and smart and silly at times. They ask tough questions, show compassion, and sometimes do stupid stuff. They are just two kids trying to grow up in this crazy world, and we want to be there to help them through it all.
-Eric (and Amy)

We wrote Jesus Embraced Parenting because we realized that being a parent is so much more than just providing for the physical and emotional needs of our kids; we can’t neglect their spiritual needs.

One of the fruits of the spirit is love., so we want to nurture that in our kids. We want them to learn how to love God and their fellow humans. We want to model that love to them and also teach them the Biblical truth that Jesus modeled to us- that love is essential for us as Christians. We can’t be Christians without having love because God Himself is love.

We invite others to join us in discovering what it’s like to be a Christian parent who teaches and models God’s truth to their kids. This study asks tough questions at times, but it is so worth learning how to help our children grow spiritually.

Calimesa Study

Jesus Embraced Parenting is a group Bible study that will be held in Calimesa, CA.

All of us want our children to succeed in life, but what does that look like for a Christian? In this Bible study we will consider how to nurture the fruit of the Spirit in our kids, from love to patience, from goodness to self-control. How can we show our kids what it means to follow Jesus? What should we be telling them about our faith and morals?

This book is a 10-week Bible study experience that is meant to be done, not just listened to, and includes a Prayer Experience and a family Serve Experience.
